Love Letters

Next up on our trip around The Gateway: Love Letters Museum

I cannot say enough good things about this place. This museum is all about the love of letters (not postal writings to ones you love - but isn't that a fun play on words?) It was so fun and nerdy. I come from a big word-nerd family. So when there is a museum all about words and letters, I had to check it out.

There were so many fun parts to the museum. Sculptures made out of books, a giant book to slide down, letter blocks and magnets, fun art pieces. And it wasn't just a boring museum, either. There were amazing interactive parts too. We got to create a button to take home. We got to use rubber stamps to create a little card to take home (mine has flowers and the word "love" on it and it currently being used as decoration to cover up the phone jack in our house - cuz who uses those anymore??).

They even had postcards you could write and then mail. I sent my postcard to my sister. I made my husband send his postcard to me (so I could have a souvenir from Love Letters). There was also a table with paper where you could write down negative stuff and then use a paper shredder to symbolically shred those negative thoughts.

The last part of the museum is a hmm...how to word this...paper shred pit. It's like a ball pit (like the one we saw at Dreamscapes), but instead of balls, it was shreds of paper. My kids had SO MUCH FUN just playing around in a pile of paper.

Tickets were $16.50 for adults and $12.50 for children (3-10). They are open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11am to 8pm. Plan at least an hour and a half to explore this unique ode to words, letters and art.

And now, since a picture is worth a thousands words, here are eight thousand words worth of pictures:

Stay tuned! Next up: A smorgasbord of more things to do at The Gateway!
