Utah Taste Off - Donuts

Image
When events and things pop up on my facebook feed - wheter as a suggestion from a friend, a suggestion from facebook, or an ad, I pay attention. I have found so many things to do just by checking out ads and posts from facebook. This event is an example of random thing I found on facebook. But now, I am a total fan. Their name is Utah Taste Off . They are pretty new, but boy do they know how to throw a party . Seriously, these peeps know what they are doing! Utah Taste Off  runs events where different vendors participate in food taste offs. They have done a sugar cookie event in the past and I'm sure there are more awesome parties to come . But the event I went to: Donuts!! I honestly didn't know what to expect . I knew very little about how the event would set up. I kinda envisioned a bunch of donut booths that would be handing out samples. Nope. It was waaaaaay cooler than that. When we arrived we were seated at one of their long tables (I like sitting). As we waited...

The Gateway

This is my last post in my series on The Gateway . There are so many things to do and see at The Gateway and writing an individual post about all of them would get tedious and boring. But I don't want to stop sharing about this place. They have updated a lot of things there in recent years and are still adding more new things . Below are just a few more suggestions of things to do at The Gateway. Things I've done and loved: Rocket Fizz - Specialty candy and soda shop . There are many locations throughout the country, but only two in Utah (the other is in Vineyard). Salt and Honey - A maker's market . This place has locally made, independently produced items that are fun and unique. Many artists and makers use this store as a platform to sell their handmade creations. Dave and Buster's - Another place that is all over the country - but this is the only one in Utah. Think Chuck-e-Cheese's, but for grown ups . Still family friendly, but does serve alcohol ...

ba da ba ba ba i'm lovin' it

i'm lovin it, me encanta, ik hou ervan, i'm lovin it eh, i'm lovin it mate My Preference Preface: Before I write about McDonald's, I feel the need to say that usually I am not the biggest fan of McDonald's. I feel like their food is more suited for children. With so many other restaurant options available, McDonald's is usually only visited by my family with Little C and Little D insist upon it. However, I had to make an exception for Worldwide Favorites . McDonald's most recent (American) campaign involves bringing some of the foreign menu items to America for a limited time. Doesn't that sound fun? It did to me. So I loaded the family into the car and we had lunch at McDonald's. We ordered each of the new menu items for Ryan and I to share (plus two Happy Meals for the picky eater kids). Here are my thoughts on each item. Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger from Spain (also available as a double): The things that make this burger uniqu...

Reese's Varieties

Image
Fun Fact: In Canada, Reese's candy bars are just called Reese. (And if you are from Canada - Fun Fact: In America, Reese candy bars are called Reese's.) Today's adventure is in the land of candy (not Candyland - that's a game). When it comes to consuming chocolate and candy, Reese's is a family favorite. Last night, we had a party (for a stuffed bear of Little D). There were balloons, name tags, prize raffles, dancing and candy. All of this was planned by Little C and Little D (those are how I shall refer to my children in my blogging). Except for the candy - I planned that part. Enter: Reese's in a multitude of varieties. We had Regular. We had White Chocolate. We had Chocolate Lovers. And we had Peanut Butter Lovers. Here we have a picture of the packages: And here we have a picture of just the peanut butter cups: The taste test: Regular: We ate this one first as a control. Delicious, as always! White Chocolate: This was Little C...
