Studio C

Image
Last week I had a neat opportunity to be an extra in a Studio C taping. (If you aren't familiar with the show, here is there Youtube Channel .) I honestly can't say too much about it because the new season hasn't aired yet (coming this fall). But here is what I can tell you: There is a studio A and a studio B. The show Studio C is filmed in BYUtv's studio C. Other shows and things are filmed in studios A and B. There is a brand new cast for the upcoming season of Studio C. One of them (Arvin) is even from my hometown of St. Louis! We weren't allowed to wear any clothes with logos on them. But they didn't tell us that beforehand. So there were a lot of people that had to turn their shirts backwards or inside out. I actually thought about it before I left the house and made sure to wear a shirt with no company logos on it. But there was a graphic and that wasn't okay either. When the new season airs, look for the people in backwards and inside out shi...

Wyoming Downs Racetrack

Image
This past weekend, I had the chance to cross something off my bucket list: Bet on a horse race . Being in Utah, that is hard to do. But just 2 hours north, in Evanston, WY is Wyoming Downs Race Track . They have races on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer. So I left the kids with grandma and Ryan and I headed north for the afternoon. It was a lot of fun. We were able to use their app to place our bets (which is so much better than waiting in line to bet on each race). It was neat that the minimum bet was $2 , so that made it low risk and just fun. We weren't great at picking winners. But we did bet $2 on After Chad and he won us $15.20 (though we quickly lost that betting on other horses like Russdiculous and Unstoppable Honor). I think what is the more fun part of horse racing is the names people give their race horses. They are the funniest names! My favorite horse names: *Bear Bottomside *Game of Trones *Baby Groot *Go Trump Go *Wassup Bro...

The Lion King - 18 thoughts I had - I bet you didn't notice #9

Image
Hi guys! Today I want to write about the new "live action" Lion King movie that we saw as a family on Saturday. Instead of a boring review (you can find those all over the web right now), I thought I'd share my thoughts that I had during the movie. Thoughts (at least somewhat) related to The Lion King: 1. Even though the movie isn't actually live action, it definitely feels live action (except the animals talking stuff). 2. Zebra manes are SO COOL! 3. I can't believe they butchered the Be Prepared song. That one is my favorite! 4. I wonder what Jeremy Irons is up to these days? (This is a link to his IMDB page) . 5. Did Jon Favreau ever become the Ultimate Fighting Champion. 6. Why does Mufasa let Simba hang out with Scar at all? 7. Ryan Rubin did a great job as the Score Wrangler. Sometimes scores just need to be wrangled. 8. Thanos Kousis was an artist in the movie. I guess they hired Thanos so he could snap his finger and magically ma...

Float Spa 101

Image
As soon as Sheldon and Amy on The Big Bang Theory tried out sensory deprivation chambers on the episode "The Inspiration Deprivation" back in April, Ryan and I were googling where we could go to try them out. Also known as a float spa, we found a place about 20 minutes south of us - True REST Float Spa . We were able to find a groupon to use saving us about 50% of the cost. It was quite the interesting experience to say the least. First they showed us an intro to floating video all about the basics of what to do (and not do). The video was super cute and hilarious (which was quite nice considering intro videos like this are usually just boring.) The thesis statement of the video was "don't be an idiot," but also gave good tips on what you can expect. Here is a picture of what the float spa room looked like: We were then given a tour of the facility and shown how to use the float spas. We each got our own room with shower and spa bed (is that the ...

ba da ba ba ba i'm lovin' it

Image
i'm lovin it, me encanta, ik hou ervan, i'm lovin it eh, i'm lovin it mate My Preference Preface: Before I write about McDonald's, I feel the need to say that usually I am not the biggest fan of McDonald's. I feel like their food is more suited for children. With so many other restaurant options available, McDonald's is usually only visited by my family with Little C and Little D insist upon it. However, I had to make an exception for Worldwide Favorites . McDonald's most recent (American) campaign involves bringing some of the foreign menu items to America for a limited time. Doesn't that sound fun? It did to me. So I loaded the family into the car and we had lunch at McDonald's. We ordered each of the new menu items for Ryan and I to share (plus two Happy Meals for the picky eater kids). Here are my thoughts on each item. Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger from Spain (also available as a double): The things that make this burger uniqu...

Reese's Varieties

Image
Fun Fact: In Canada, Reese's candy bars are just called Reese. (And if you are from Canada - Fun Fact: In America, Reese candy bars are called Reese's.) Today's adventure is in the land of candy (not Candyland - that's a game). When it comes to consuming chocolate and candy, Reese's is a family favorite. Last night, we had a party (for a stuffed bear of Little D). There were balloons, name tags, prize raffles, dancing and candy. All of this was planned by Little C and Little D (those are how I shall refer to my children in my blogging). Except for the candy - I planned that part. Enter: Reese's in a multitude of varieties. We had Regular. We had White Chocolate. We had Chocolate Lovers. And we had Peanut Butter Lovers. Here we have a picture of the packages: And here we have a picture of just the peanut butter cups: The taste test: Regular: We ate this one first as a control. Delicious, as always! White Chocolate: This was Little C...

When I was a kid, I wanted to participate in everything. Activities and adventures that I was involved in (even if just briefly) include: Girl Scouts Gymnastics Softball Soccer Basketball Volleyball Karate Swim Lessons Family Vacations Youth Group at Church Camping Day Camps/Summer Camps Tap Dance Choir School Plays Guitar Lessons Piano Lessons I wanted to try everything as a kid. And that hasn't changed. There were times when I had to choose between two activities because, as my dad would often tell me, "Angela, you can't do everything."
