The Gateway

This is my last post in my series on The Gateway . There are so many things to do and see at The Gateway and writing an individual post about all of them would get tedious and boring. But I don't want to stop sharing about this place. They have updated a lot of things there in recent years and are still adding more new things . Below are just a few more suggestions of things to do at The Gateway. Things I've done and loved: Rocket Fizz - Specialty candy and soda shop . There are many locations throughout the country, but only two in Utah (the other is in Vineyard). Salt and Honey - A maker's market . This place has locally made, independently produced items that are fun and unique. Many artists and makers use this store as a platform to sell their handmade creations. Dave and Buster's - Another place that is all over the country - but this is the only one in Utah. Think Chuck-e-Cheese's, but for grown ups . Still family friendly, but does serve alcohol ...

Love Letters

Next up on our trip around The Gateway : Love Letters Museum I cannot say enough good things about this place. This museum is all about the love of letters (not postal writings to ones you love - but isn't that a fun play on words?) It was so fun and nerdy. I come from a big word-nerd family . So when there is a museum all about words and letters, I had to check it out.  There were so many fun parts to the museum. Sculptures made out of books, a giant book to slide down, letter blocks and magnets , fun art pieces . And it wasn't just a boring museum, either. There were amazing interactive parts too. We got to create a button to take home. We got to use rubber stamps to create a little card to take home (mine has flowers and the word "love" on it and it currently being used as decoration to cover up the phone jack in our house - cuz who uses those anymore??). They even had postcards you could write and then mail. I sent my postcard to my sister. I made m...

Dreamscapes

The next installment for my series on things to do at The Gateway is finally here. Yay! Dreamscapes is an art installation that I found absolutely enchanting . Everything there is meant to look like it could be a dream. And they nailed it! According to their website , over 50 artists came together to make this dream a dreamesque reality. As you walk through the museum, you enter new world after new world designed to look like a different dream world. You have forests and oceans and ball pits ; climbing and clouds and stickers . My favorite room is one where everything is white . It's like a normal living room with chairs and tables and books. But it's all white. At first. Each guest gets a set of small stickers - one of each color of the rainbow. And you get to put the stickers anywhere you want in the room. It was really neat to see how people - strangers - at different times - but together - worked with each other to create designs and patterns. This...
